A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PONTOTOC HIGH SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-99 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Pontotoc High School Lady Warriors Basketball Team completed the 1998-1999 season with an outstanding record of 37 wins and only 1 loss; and

WHEREAS, throughout the Lady Warriors season, they won several tournaments, including the Pontotoc Tournament, the South Pontotoc Tournament, the District 1 Class 3A Tournament and placed second in the North Mississippi 3A Regional Tournament and the State 3A Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Bill Russell and volunteer Assistant Coach Christy Murray, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon the players, including: the naming of Keela Ball, Terri Crudup and Deanna Farr to the All-State and All-North Mississippi Teams; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Warriors have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Pontotoc High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Pontotoc High School Lady Warriors Basketball Team and Head Coach Bill Russell and Assistant Coach Christy Murray for their outstanding 1998-1999 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Pontotoc High School, Head Coach Bill Russell and Assistant Coach Christy Murray and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
